South-West

A tradition of coffee and muleteers.
The South-west of Antioquia has a more of 70-year coffee-production tradition that has provided its infrastructural and communicational growth.
Due to their wealthy soils and a climate that varies from hot, warm and cold, in the South West we can find a varied production, in which coffee, cocoa, sisal, asparagus, banana, bean, and sugar cane are the most outstanding ones.
The South-West offers to its visitors, the Hotel infrastructure, to satisfy their expectations and a huge variety of adventure, recreational and relaxation tourism, and also the opportunity to know about the processes and traditions of the coffee production.
To get there from Medellín, we can take two routes: the first one is “The route of the Coffee and the Coal”, going through those municipalities which economical production is based on the coal exploitation, and coffee culture, Amagá. Angelópolis and Titiribí. The second one is the way that communicates Medellín to the South-west of the country.
This Sub-region has these following inner routes.
- The Route of the Coffee and the Coal.
- Route of the Coffee.
- Route of the Muleteer.
